WE NEED EACH OTHER

By COACH JOHNNY MARTIN

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

If you’re reading this; you probably already know the impact our community has on your life. The VFF family is special; and our mission is to empower you and your fellow graduates to move forward in the areas of your life that matter most to you. Much like other thriving communities; VFF draws its strength from the collective; ALL OF YOU!

We all need to: Believe in something; Belong to something; and Strive for something. While we can all “feel” how being part of a community impacts our life; it is also important to “know” how your life is positively changing because of your choice to stay involved. This month’s blog explores the impact being engaged in a thriving and positive community can have on your life. Please feel free to share this with anyone you think may benefit from it.

The Power of Community. We Need Each Other:

1.
Collective Wisdom: We alone never have all of the answers. Sometimes we don’t even know if we’re asking the right questions. Hundreds of years of combined life from our brothers and sisters can help us ask the right questions and seek the honest answers that fuel our growth.

2.
Shared Experience: A place where you know you’re not alone. While your experiences may be specific to YOU; similar experiences and the feelings that come with them are shared by the group. BELONG

3. Exceeding Limits and Welcoming Tough Conversations: The VFF Family doesn’t shy away from the tough conversations. We ask the hard questions. We encourage healthy disagreement. We challenge limiting beliefs. We all agree that Growth and Comfort never live in the same house at the same time.

4.
Support and Belief: We believe in each other, sometimes more than we believe in ourselves. It is on these days that the power of community is most important. When our goals seem impossible, our community reminds us they’re not.

5.
New Ideas: Our perspective, experiences, and goals can help others see a similar opportunity in very different ways.

6. Borrowed Motivation: Sometimes the “gas” has to come from a different tank, because ours is empty. There is no shortage of motivation and inspiration with our VFF family.

7. Build Resilience: The VFF community is built around the idea that we CAN and MUST do hard things. Doing hard things alone is harder than doing those things with the support of your community.

8. Accountability: As Coach Meg Kelvington always says; “We are not allowed to quit alone”. Knowing that one of our brothers and sisters is there to challenge us; support us; and call us out when needed; KEEPS US IN THE FIGHT!
