DIRT THERAPY TRAIL UPDATE – JANUARY 2024

January in Northwest Arkansas was a cold one this year! We had several snow days, frozen ground, broken hand tools, etc. But we also accomplished some impressive construction on our trails!

A note from the Builder:

Since finishing our short spicy black DH trail we have jumped back over to the Green to make some progress. We are quickly approaching the halfway point of our Green Trail. This trail in total will be a half a mile long! This will be one of, if not the longest green DH trail in Northwest Arkansas that is a true downhill trail. Meaning no pedals required! I have grubbed out (trail building term meaning removing all organic material and prepping trail path) 95% of the total trail. And as I stated earlier we have almost half of that completed besides a few touch up items. Green DH trails I have always thought to be the hardest kind of trail to build. They are wide, speed has to be completely controlled by the builder when it comes to features and grade, and most importantly they have to be extremely safe. This means it needs to be manageable by any rider whether it’s the greenest of a green rider or a professional. The hand crew has been hard at work raking and hand finishing the trail to a pristine state. Which if any of you are familiar with Arkansas…we have rock…and lots of it. Haha. But that’s also what makes this place great for building. The rock within our material makes for a great binder to make everything pack together like concrete.

I hope you all are as excited about this place as much as I am. It is going to be truly a one of a kind mountain bike destination.

Happy trails.

Other Exciting News:

We had an opportunity to visit our friends at Specialized, and pro rider Anneke Beerten to present a small thank you for their support over Veterans Day 2024.

What's Next:

Next Month – February is already on our doorstep! As mentioned, Green and Blue Flow Lines are our first priority. From there we will shift focus over to the remainder of our perimeter loop in preparation of hosting our friends from Higher Ground (Apr) and Team RWB (June). This additional 4 miles of trail will intersect with the existing Dome Loop Trail and provide nearly 6 miles of singletrack, perfect for everyone to ride.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this program. Together we truly are making a difference in the lives of Veterans and their families.
